Our Story: From Frustration to Innovation

As customer service operators for large property managers, we’ve seen firsthand how a lack of transparency and understanding leads to stress, disputes and financial losses for tenants. Every day, we know there are countless residents struggling with complex lease terms, unclear fees, ambiguous dates and challenging rental policies. After helping residents navigate thousands of leases, we know that leasing isn't easy, so being told “read your lease” isn't enough.


This frustration motivated us to get involved in the effort to help tenants live a better lease life. There’s a whole community of renters that have learned millions of “Lease Lessons” – a move-in mishap, some rental drama, or maybe a contract clash. We believe it’s time to centralize that information and experience to help you.


That's why we created LeaseWisely; the first and only tenant empowerment platform that aims to shift the landlord/tenant power dynamic. Tenant should have leases that are fair and easy to understand, access to technology and data and a network that supports them throughout their entire lease journey.

Lease Lesson: "Don't be afraid to go to court."

My Lease Learning:  As I was moving out from a multi-year lease, my landlord threatened to withhold my entire $2,500 security deposit to clean the carpet. The carpet showed normal wear, yet he wanted me to replace carpet on the entire floor. I was confident enough to stand up for my rights – even when he called the cops during the move-out. I had my day in court and won two times my security deposit plus court costs.

My Lease Learning:  My first call in a property management contact center was from a mother who had her electricity turned off. She paid her bill on-time, but the landlord’s third-party utility company did not allocate the funds correctly. The lease did not include restitution for landlord payment issues, only the tenant’s. It took 3 days to get her power back and all I could say was “it’s in the lease”. I vowed to not let that happen again.
